ABOUT
Hello, my name is Maxwell Shoberg. I’ve been professionally tattooing since 2009. I am a native New Yorker; born in Manhattan. I studied at the Arts Students League of New York and the School of Visual Arts. I left college in 2008 to begin a tattoo apprenticeship just outside NYC. I soon moved back to NYC, where I worked in midtown Manhattan from 2010-2018. I moved with my family to the beautiful Hudson Valley In 2018, and am now a resident artist at Acala Tattoo Collective.
I’ve been an artist my whole life. I love tattooing. As much as it is fun being isolated inside my studio for hours on end, I enjoy working with and around people in the tattoo shop environment. It is what I was meant to do.
As far as what my preference of style is, I am very open (large scale, illustrative, black and grey, realism, Japanese, bio-mechanical, color etc.). When I work with a client I try and see exactly what you are looking for and then align those needs with my skill set. I want to show your design off with all the tools I have. The work reflected in my portfolio took years to curate and is a direct representation of the style I feel most comfortable working in. I always tell my clients, the most important thing when choosing a tattoo artist is that you like their work, because your tattoo will reflect that style. Having said that, if you see something you like, please reach out. I would love to help you.
